BACKGROUND Paulo Robalo started his artistic activity as a painter in 1986. He exhibited his work regularly in Portuguese art galleries until 1991. The next years were dedicated to another one of his passions and, for a decade, he worked intensively in many theatrical productions. In 2002 he comes back to Painting, exhibiting once more in a regular basis. Besides his activities as an artist and a teacher, Paulo Robalo develops since the 90’s an intense activity in areas related to the Theater. He has participated in the production of many theater plays as a Set Designer, Production Manager, Production Designer, Costume Designer or as Stage Manager, working with well-known Directors, such as Filipe Crawford, Nuno M. Cardoso, João Didelet, Antonio Pires and Luís Esparteiro, among many others. He made commissioned set designs for RTP, Expo’98, “LISBOA Capital da Cultura’94” and several other events. As an illustrator, he has worked for “Diário de Lisboa” newspaper and for “Pais e filhos”, “Elle”, “Ler” and “Espaço Corpo” magazines.
