The exhibition "Visual Fables" presents works from the artist Regina Silveira that reflects her unique form to deal with graphic-visual language, but as well her ability to modify quotidian objects and to give them a new meaning.
Regina Silveira choses for her works trivial objects as needleworks, an axe, a hammer or a revolver - not represented in a realistic way, but in calculate distortions or as in this exhibition, held captive and apparently inoffensive in embroidery. The embroidery is a graphic tool that the artist is using for the codification of different objects and images and for the realization of large-scale projects, as for ex. the face of the MASP São Paulo. In the show "Visual Fables" the embroidery is as well a central element. Regina Silveira has realized a specific lithographic work for the big windows of the gallery. The exhibition is showing as well a choice of representative works.
Regina Silveira is one of the most influential artists of Brazil today, some of her works are in MoMA’s collection New York among other museums and prestigious private and public collections worldwide. Biennials and triennials welcome her participation and she is represented in the best art fairs. Regina Silveira has exhibited at the Guggenheim Museum New York, Huston Fine Arts Museums, MASP São Paulo, Reina Sofia Madrid and others.
